The company plans to export the produce grown in Uzbekistan to Russia.
The Niva Greenhouses group of companies is building two greenhouses of one hectare each in Urgench and in the Yangiaryk district of the Khorezm Region. Both projects are due to be completed in July this year, with vegetable sowing to begin in August.

The company has opened a representative office in the Khorezm Region. Its general director Umar Musaev told a Spot correspondent about this at the Expo-Russia Uzbekistan 2018 exhibition of Russian manufacturers.
«The yield of the greenhouses is at least 200 tonnes per hectare per year. Later we will buy finished produce from farmers and ship it to Russia, where there is strong demand for fresh tomatoes. We decided to work with Uzbekistan because Uzbek produce arrives in Russia in large volumes. It is a mutually beneficial exchange», said Umar Musaev.
The greenhouses will be equipped with modern Dutch equipment for automatic irrigation, microclimate control, hydroponics and screening. Given the interruptions in the gas supply, combined boilers have been installed: in the Urgench greenhouse they will run on coal and gas, and in the Yangiaryk district on gas and diesel fuel.
The total value of the projects exceeds one million dollars. There are also plans for projects in the Bukhara Region, Tashkent, Andijan and Karakalpakstan, for which preliminary contracts have been signed. These will mainly grow tomatoes. A 2-hectare greenhouse for Dutch roses is also planned in Tashkent.
«We have big plans for Uzbekistan. We want to open a wholesale distribution centre here in order to buy up all the produce, store it and, most importantly, pack it properly to the standards required by Russian retail chains. We plan to open the warehouse in the Khorezm Region. The regional authorities are meeting us halfway. We will take part in a tender for premises at a zero rate where storage facilities used to be. We will refurbish them, install refrigeration equipment and a line for producing corrugated packaging», said the general director of Niva Greenhouses.
Spot previously reported that the Dutch company Dalsem is building a 2.7-hectare greenhouse near Nukus for 6 million euros.
